What is the difference between gravity casting and die casting?
With the development of industrial production, the process performance requirements of casting production are getting higher and higher, and the production means have been gradually optimized with the requirements. For example, gravity casting, as a relatively durable metal type casting, has always been the main means of industrial casting. There are many types of classification of gravity casting, and die casting is also a metal casting process, I don't know if you have understood the difference between them, let's take a look!
First of all, look at gravity casting, its principle is to rely on the action of gravity, so that the molten aluminum naturally fills the mold through gravity, of course, there is also the use of centrifugal casting, which belongs to the scope of gravity casting. Gravity casting aluminum liquid is generally poured into the gate manually, relying on the self-weight of the molten metal to fill the cavity, exhaust, cooling, mold opening to obtain samples, the process flow is generally: aluminum molten smelting, filling molding, exhaust, cooling, mold opening, production, heat treatment, processing. The principle of die casting is to rely on mechanical forces, such as injection rods, to pour molten aluminum into the injection chamber, and form pressure through the linear movement of the injection rod and the injection head, forcing the molten aluminum to fill the mold.
Gravity casting is generally used in parts with complex internal shapes, such as gasoline fuel guns, while die casting is generally used in parts with more complex shapes but simpler interiors, such as gearboxes and so on.
When choosing which process to produce the product, it is mainly selected according to the wall thickness of the workpiece, when the wall thickness of the product is greater than 8mm, die casting will cause a lot of pores in the wall, so the thicker wall thickness of the product can choose the gravity casting process to complete.
